This store has a good atmosphere and a well-curated selection of books. I would give it five stars, but I had an interaction with the owner that left me in tears. As this is advertised as a cat bookstore, and I love cats, I went there to cheer myself up after a bad day. I tried to gently pet the cat as I was checking out and the owner suddenly motioned for me to stop. I understand that the cat might want a break from being pet sometimes, and this is fine. I don’t even think the owner was being mean, but the way the “no petting” was communicated was so jarring and unexpected it rattled me. I honestly cried all the way back to my apartment I was so bewildered. I know this sounds dramatic lol but it looks like this has happened to other people. I suggest putting a sign up when the cat shouldn’t be pet so this kind of miscommunication doesn’t happen.

I loved being welcomed by a speaker playing bird sounds! What a delightful shop with a friendly owner and adorable (and sleepy) kitty. I was pleasantly surprised by the huge collection of cool post cards and printed art.

Going to sleepy cat always brings me so much comfort and joy! The owner Jeff and his cat Lyla are incredibly lovely. I also appreciate the wide selection of Asian authors and literature they carry. They always give you a cute cat bookmark with every book you buy :)

Visited this store today, store is preety impressive, nice owner, limited books but the taste of owner is enough for a reader to see the variety of books. Sleepy cats is another best thing in the store. I will say this is the kind of store I want when I retire.
